Advanced Commercial Pilot Licence (ACPL) Program

The Spectrum Airways bespoke ACPL program is an approved course of pilot training developed using principles of instructional systems design. All instructional stages are completed as one continuous course from beginning to end, encompassing the Private Pilot Licence, Night Rating, Multi Rating, Multi-IFR and Commercial Licence. Ground and flight training elements are interrelated and sequenced to provide for efficient achievement of the learning objectives.  Our ACPL program is modeled after the Transport Canada Integrated Commercial Pilot Licence (ICPL), but allows for more flexibility with regards to the time constraints. It is designed to allow students to make maximum use of training time while still achieving objectives in a cost-effective manner.

Students in our ACPL program will earn:

Advantages over traditional independent Commercial Pilot Licence training:

  • All training flights are specified in advance which eliminates the undirected “time-building” phase, ensuring efficiency to meet hour requirements.

  • Multi-engine and Instrument rating hours will count towards student’s total CPL hour requirements. Other programs often complete the CPL hour requirement before proceeding to the Multi and Instrument rating hours.

  • Students can select from 28 different airports for cross country flights during the Commercial licence phase (Phases 4-6).

  • Cross country routes are compliant with the rules of the India Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Advantages over Integrated (ICPL) programs:

  • Unlike Integrated (ICPL) programs, there are no fixed intake dates, so students can start training when their schedule allows.

  • Students with an existing Private Pilot Licence are not limited to a 30-hour training credit.

  • Flexible scheduling allows students to progress at their own pace.

  • The student is not subject to the ICPL calendar time constraints for completion of the program.

  • Students have the choice of selecting an alternate training lesson from the syllabus should weather preclude a lesson.

The Spectrum Airways Career Pilot Pathway (CPP) program is
designed for students who wish to complete their ACPL + Instructor Rating.

The Commercial Pilot Program and Civil Flight Instructor Rating Program are approved as vocational programs under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005

*Please note that the Multi-IFR portion of the program is only available at our Burlington campus.
